How Amtrak USA Passes Work
Passes are available in three tiers of travel durations and segments*:
15 days/8 segments for $389
30 days/12 segments for $579
45 days/18 segments for $749.
With USA Rail Passes, passengers have the flexibility to create their own custom itineraries. The following combinations are a sample of the more popular routes available on the Amtrak system:
• Travel Coast to Coast in three days or overnight from North to South (additional charges apply for sleeping compartments)
• Travel to National Parks including the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Glacier National Park and Rocky Mountains
• North East Corridor: Boston - New York – Philadelphia – Washington, DC
• California Zephyr: Chicago – Denver – San Francisco
• Coast Starlight: Seattle – Portland – Los Angeles
• Crescent: New York – Atlanta – New Orleans
• Sunset Limited: New Orleans – San Antonio – Los Angeles
• Pacific Surfliner: Paso Robles – San Luis Obispo – Santa Barbara – Los Angeles – San Diego
Buy the USA Rail Passes and you can pick them up at the Station or by using the QuikTrak self-ticketing machines from Amtrak. Once you have purchased a USA Rail Pass, you must book a reservation (which is free if there aren’t any accommodations) for each train before boarding. Tickets and reservations are available over the phone (1-800-USA-RAIL) or at any staffed Amtrak station, but should be made as far in advance as possible, as seating is limited for pass holders.
